Rising sales figures
Compared to the previous year, the sales of participating companies in 2017 have risen by an average of 5.2%. The growth registered with advertising agencies was disproportionately high at 8.7%. This also puts the industry in a positive mood for the current business year. For 2018 the companies polled expect turnover to rise by 5.3% on average. Textile finishers were particularly optimistic – they expect as much as 7.6% growth.
Promising promotional products
The automotive industry, the financial sector, retail, construction and tourism were the top-5 industries posting the highest potential turnover for the promotional product industry. Proving especially successful last year was the use of electronic and multi-media promotional products, apparel, products for school and office supplies as well as lifestyle articles. What is striking here: alongside ever more innovative products especially durable, high-end and sustainable promotional products are in ever higher demand.
Sustainability continues to experience an upswing
One in two companies in the promotional product industry consider sustainability a key theme. In 2017 a total 35% of all suppliers, importers, exporters and distributors have undertaken concrete measures to certify and/or obtain certification of their sustainable activities. Top of the list are the suppliers. Here, one in two stated they were acting sustainably. Top certificates include TÜV, EMAS, the GOTS Certificate and IFS Food Version 6. Companies follow the EU standards here but also comply with ISO, manufacturers’ notifications, BSCI, SEDEX and FSC. The companies polled can submit certificates or other proof of sustainability for approximately 36% of their goods.
